Starting to clean up this mower and found some original colour a nice looking blue has anybody seen one in colour so I get a better idea of colour
I don't worry about colour to much but try and get close if some colour can be found

From the little area of still bright blue in picture two it looks like a hammertone blue. Got a lot of descaling to do first though I reckon before getting to painting it.

I've got to agree with Trev - about the hammertone effect.
I think the Crusader Special belongs to post WWII when the
hammer paint effect was popular on lawnmowers.

Ian, is this the second Purcell Eng machine you have?
Does this one have a rubber tread on the wheels and
tubular handle bars?

Thanks for helping the record and preserving this lawnmower.

I remain frustrated that collectors do not see the value in
preserving these early Australian pushies.

Purcell is such an important name too!
