So I made a BIG mistake this morning. I went to Bunnings and bought a Victa straight shaft whipper snipper.

I just couldn't be bothered getting one running to use around here so I thought I'll get a nice new one from Bunnings (New store at Munno Para West in SA if anyone is interested).

I get it home and unpack the box ... the retainer for the safety shield is missing, I assemble (minus the shield), put fuel in, follow the cold start directions and the cord does not retract smoothly. I pull and pull. Nothing!

After 10 minutes of nothing I spray start ya bastard in the carb and still nothing. I remove the plug from my (New) machine to test for spark ... well imagine my surprise when I see this ...

I test for spark anyway (plenty). the plug is wet so the problem is timing.

I have emailed Bunnings and given them an articulate account of the day and requested a full and frank explanation of why they are reselling something that has obviously been used (and I suspect returned under warranty). I will be walking in there at 11 tomorrow morning and getting my money back never to return.

Never did like bunnings but this is terrible. Makes me wonder what else they do and get away with.

Anyway that was my rant. I'll update when I get my money back ($249)

Pete.

Woooo.

Got my money refunded. Spoke to two guys at the refund desk; Neither would comment about why the used spark plug was there. 1 said "Really?" the other said "hmmm."

Anyway I have my money back and will not be returning to Bunnings in the future.

The only frustrating thing for me now is that I need to find another hardware store around here. That's getting very hard and really is the only reason I went to Bunnings in the first place.

Thanks mate. My father just chucked me his Ryobi. Apparently he has only used it half a dozen times or so and wanted to get rid of it anyway.

I really only want to use one every 6 months or so.

Thanks again anyway.

I'm surprised with Bunnings reselling used goods. I thought they just chucked em out for oh&s reasons. A friends son works at Bunnings and he says you would be surprised at what gets chucked out.

A mate of mine works his second part time job at Bunnings and reckons they don't return much it all just goes straight in the bin out back.
