Hi, i have lost my drive belt for the colt 8. Does anyone know what length it is please.

Has it still got the maker's plate with the model number?
There are two wheel drive belt lengths for these; the early models had A33, and the late ones A38 belts.

OK, that's the later one, so A38 is the correct belt. Reference HERE

Strange the A38 is way too long and the A33 is way too short even with the brake on. Checked all the pulleys and their correct. Something weird going on.

You are just going to have to keep trying belts till you get the right one and an inch can make a huge difference

It's an A33. Phoned the guy that owned it before me. He changed the return spring to a different length and moved the mechanism by undoing the pivot bolt which is through a slotted hole. The bolt is just in front of the gearbox under the seat. It has a large washer on it and makes it hard to see the slotted hole.
