Hello ODK History Lovers
This is a sensational brochure that sums up Victa for 1968 and 1969.
This was a mature residential mower maker with a wide range of rear and side
discharge models, and the early Imperials with their 4-stroke Kirby engines.

This is a great multi-fold brochure that I have dated to 1968-69 because of
the early G2 carby, the first Victa carby to be governed.

Second, we have the Imperial range of roller mowers - all with the early
'cross-handles' and 4-stroke engines.

Best of all, we have Victa's 'Key-Start' machine fitted to a Kirby 4-stroke.
This was the 'must-have' gadget for the late 1960s. The reference to the Key-
Start as being, "the one you start like a Jag" would probably have been
directed at Merv Richardson (who owned Jaguar cars).

PART TWO - Safety
This is a most interesting brochure because it collates and voices the
increasing public and Governmental concern for lawnmower safety -
with a Draft Code ...the Draft Australian Standard Safety Specifications
for Power Lawn Mowers
. 1968 is the year Australian lawnmower makers
finally addressed the tragic accidents involving power lawnmowers.

For Victa, this meant a safety cut-out switch on the carby, and the abandonment
of the removable side- edging-flap. The Victa lost its vestiges as a ... 'toe-cutter'.
Victa introduced its 'Safety Seal':-

PART THREE - The Range
This is a modest range compared to what we would see just a few years' later.

The other side of the multi-fold presents a sensational panorama of the
Victa range.

There were five rear discharge machines: Key Electric, Self-Propelled,
the Corvettes and the Cortina. Note the new Victa Special and the New
Utilities
. I note that the 4-stroke Key Electric has a Victa recoil
starter ... on a 4-stroke! The only other recoil is fitted to the 125cc
New Utility.

The Imperials were all 4-stroke, and available in 16", 20" and 24"
[the 14" would only become available with the Victa 2-stroke in 1972].
