Giday fellas, Once last roll of the dice before I put a match to the load of plastic that I've accumulated: I've taken the part numbers off the carby pieces and I'm hoping that someone out there might be able to tell me what piece goes with what. I've also added some photos of the collection. Part numbers are as follows:
BODIES: CRO 3500A 1 CRO 3500A 3 CRO 3604A 2
CAMS: CRO 3626A 4 CRO 3406 1 CRO 3406 2 CRO 3406 3
POPPETTES CRO 3598A 1 CRO 3408 1 CRO 3408 6S
lIFTERS None of the 4 that I have are marked but they all appear the same
SPRINGS Refer photos (An immense variety seem to have been used over the years)
CAPS: CR0 3636A ........No idle adjuster knob CRO 3452A 1 .... Has idle adjuster knob CRO 3452A 2 .... Has idle adjuster knob
I'M JUST ABOUT OVER THESE BLOOD#YPLASTIC FANTASIC SNAP TOGETHER EVERYTHING FITS ALL BUT DOESN'T WORK DESIGN!

Paul if it was possible to fit another carb I certainly would have given it a try, it could be done but but I would end up spending a lot of lathe time and it is just not economic. Bumps where are you, maybe we should have a beer and discuss G4 carbs.

Hi Norm K.
I live at Endeavour Hills (30 KM SE of Melbourne). What about you? I can weave a yarn on those bloo#dy Victa planstic carbs and the amount of time I spent trying to make the bast#rds work properly. I reckon that I can now dismantal and reassemble one blindfolded in 10 s. Perhaps we should propose the competition to the custodians of the guinuess book of records?

Decided to do it today. So after cracking the cap (while putting it back on) I didn't have another the same, off to the local tip & see if they have a mower..... Yeehaa they had exactly what i needed. Stop off & high pressure clean the mower, pick up Orings for bowl & manifold. took the carby off, cleaned it out fitted new Orings & lines/pipes. Installed it on my mates mower, adjust throttle cable & Bobs ya uncle... Oh, and new plug

Paul, which tip did you go to, a while back I had a look at the mowers they had there in Hallam rd and I just walked out laughing at the money they wanted for the absolute piles of rubbish they had

Norm, that sounds like my local tip shop, which I just checked out this week. $70-80 for the two decent looking ones they had, or a dozen or so dungers for $15-20 each.
The only one that would have tempted me, if I was after a fix & sell proposition, was a Masport Shiremaster slasher for $200 - Honda GXV oil alert engine, stuffed rear tyres but basically sound sheetmetal with some surface rust. No missing belt guards, either.
Cheers, Gadge

I'm going from memory, but the ones I saw there were all wrecks with bits missing everywhere, all kept out in the weather and looks like they have been sitting outside for years ,tops off the petrol tank and oil filler caps gone and I think the cheapest they had was $35, I wouldn't have paid $35 for the lot and there was probably 10 there

Well, still stumped on these carbs, tried every combination we could, some setups worked, some didn't, some better than others. At least the carby off mine which smokes badly on mine didn't smoke on Bumps motor and it ran much better on his motor than on mine. With one poppet fitted it ran pretty well in the start position and in the run position, but move the throttle back a little from run and the motor would slow and die. Move the throttle quickly from start to run position and it was ok and revs could be held steady. Only real problem is this spot where it dies. We are out of ideas, any thoughts?

Ok so no further thoughts from the wisdom pit? and fitting a new carby for about $160 on a $25 mower is not an option

Hi Bumps, can you remember what my carby did on your motor, I refitted it to my motor today and it is much better than it was previously, but now I have no throttle control at all, it starts first pull every time, but it runs at probably a constant 3/4 revs, I'm sure when it was on yours we could vary the revs up and down?

Norm, the one I did on Friday (Power Torque) started nice but ran at high rpm & no controlling it. This occurred after fixing the pull start, I did notice the pull start didn't seat right but thought (mah). Well long story short, the Oring seal on the bottom of the starter had slipped off & got pinched between crank case & starter also stretched it. In summary It taught me that an air leak caused it to rev high. maybe have a look there. check manifold Oring as well & make sure inlet manifold screws are tight, I've found this issue as well causes starting/running Problems. PS, also learnt ya don't need to take pull starter off to rewind it & fit new pull cord. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2016/09/full-9138-30036-power_torque.jpg)

Hi Paul, yes I know you can replace the cord without removing the starter, I don't think you can achieve anything with the starter by removing it anyway. The motor I'm having problems with I haven't had apart but it starts instantly first pull. I agree it sounds like an air leak but I'm not sure where it would be because as far as I can see there is only the 2 "O" rings that could cause the problem. What I am going to try is Bumps carby which we have pulled apart umpteen times withe varying degrees of success, put it on my motor and see what that achieves.

It appears at the end of the day with these carbs nobody really knows what or why they work or they don't, it seems impossible to see any difference between all the parts and if these carbs don't work you just throw them in the rubbish or burn them as Bumps suggests. Bumps and I hate the idea of being beaten by this plastic rubbish, but I guess all the people who knew how/why they worked are long gone
