I am toying with the idea of totally rebuilding a full crank (110770)that I got off a VC Mustang MK III.The chassis is a right off and the engine may well be too due to it having water in it. I have the engine pulled down as far as it will go due to there being so much crap in the casing. Cause of the state of the engine is why I have decided to make this my first rebuild so no great loss if it is a dud. I have alot more questions than answers and when I mean alot I mean alot. First question is about the piston, is a Power torque the same? (My engine does not have the alloy rod). The first thing I will do is hone the bore to see how it scrubs up then I will go from there. If anyone is interested I will put some pics up but am going away to the boss's this weekend so am a bit short on time today.

Powertorque pistons and full crank pistons are the same. All the new pistons(ones made for powertorque engines will fit full crank motors). The ones made specifically for full cranks(which are non existent now) don't do so well in the powertorques as the transfer ports are wider and the pin in the ring groove lines up on the edge of the port, causing the rings to snag and break.

No. The PowerTorque doesn't have a cylinder base gasket, and the head gasket is different to the full crank 160cc one.

wotwozthat, the main concern with a 2-stroke Victa that has had water in it, is the condition of the big end bearings. If the water has got to them, the engine is beyond economic repair, unless you have a good crankshaft on hand to use.
