Hello all. I was wondering how I would go about removing the top 20mm bearing. special tool maybe ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2016/07/full-9141-29072-dscf7231.jpg) . i presume your everyday 3 pronged puller will get the bottom bearings off. thanks sean

Assuming you are replacing the bearing anyway cut it off with a 1mm cutting disc on an angle grinder if no other way is available. Cut parallel to the crankshaft from the key end.

There is a tool for removing bearings up against the flywheels but they cost a few dollars and probably a bit expensive for a one off, otherwise you have to get it off the best way you can

What no seanw wear in the picture? Good my sore eyes probably couldn't take it anyways. I don't know if you guys anything like the Harbor Freight Tools stores here. I purchased a bearing separator set from that would do that job. I have been using to gears, bearings and pulleys. Here is what I am using bearings mounted like on spindle shafts, Briggs bearings on crankshafts, and on stubborn ZTR engine pulleys. Now of course I usually end destroying those ZTRs pulleys but it heck a lot better trying to cut them off. ![[Linked Image from harborfreight.com]](http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_21569.jpg)

AVB no Harbor Freight out here but plenty of those sets on ebay, just a bit expensive for a one off job. They certainly solve a lot of problems if you do a bit of this sort of work

Yep, the bearing separator type puller is the type that Victa used to supply as a factory service tool. See this excerpt of a Victa Workshop Manual, 8th page; https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/pages/V...icta%20Workshop%20%20Engine%20Manual.pdfNote also that the manual says: If this tool is not available the bearings may be prised off with two screwdrivers. That usually works, except for the occasional very tight bearing.
Cheers, Gadge

Harbor Freight
wow i love that store. i sure do wish we had it here, seems every youtube vid i watch you guys are using harbor freight items. i know we can get similar stuff here but having one shop that has it all well thats just awesome. i built a custom 4x4 many years ago and i really needed a part that was only available in the USA. i couldnt afford to get it back then in those days. how the world has changed you can now get anything from anywhere if you try.
If my collection is complete ( then how come i keep buying stuff ? ) 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Thanks fellas. Gadge. although i would like to own that cool tool i opted for the screwdrivers. took a bit of gentle persuasion to remove the bearings but in the end they came off with no big deal. awaiting parts. this is where i am at ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2016/07/full-9141-29090-dscf7238.jpg) AVB. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2016/07/full-9141-29091-tattoo.jpg) now i have to think about painting the base. hammered avo for the base and brunswick green for handles i believe is correct. cheers fellas
