Firstly no, no plans on a nostalgic racing twin carby setup. I was thinking about my Victa twin and how I swapped the carby many years ago in an effort to get it running. I'm sure I remember seeing somewhere around here that the twins use a different needle in their carbys. Is this really needed or will a normal 160 needle work just fine? I assume their specific needle would give them a few hundred extra revs?

I am sure I also read around here somewhere that the only difference between the half crank V35, V40 and V45 is the needle so would a V45 needle or entire carby be better?

Or am I just over thinking things? After all, it won't be doing any quarter mile passes or coming down conrod straight.

Hi Slashnburn, firstly i think you mean the jet, not the needle. The powertorques use the same jet with the exception of a few of the specific models like slashers, later model VSX160's and possibly the the VE50's.
The twins use a diiferent carby afaik but the jet may be the same. Like you said, it'll just be cutting grass and not doing any 1/4 mile passes.

G'day folks,
It looks like the jet was changed in the 1977 Twins, to the same as in the 125/160 engines.

See this past thread: https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/38878

Mr Davis doesn't seem to have gotten around to posting the further 'carby info' mentioned in the first post, worse luck.

Cheers,
Gadge

G'day all,
Yep, the 125 and 160 used different jets in the LM carby, but not in the earlier G4, AFAIK.

The only standard jet P/No I can find for the G4 is that CR03459A [which superseded the original CR03405A]- the P/No for the original [larger] Twin G4 jet was CR03460A.

And I've now found that Mr Davis carby info, it's here: https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=38908

Just for completeness, there are/were 4 different jets for the LM carby:
