Hello I have an old victa ride on that I have no idea what it is
the only numbers I could find were at the back below the seat I can't find any engine numbers Forgive me I'm a mere female.
Numbers are as follow's 234-638-612-11.38l-h1938 at least I think the very first no is a 2 could be 1 as very hard to read.
I can't get it to start. Help PLease any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Adrienne,

I think that your model is the Victa 11.38 which should be 135-638-612 or 136-638-612.

It should be a 11hp Briggs & Stratton motor but we will need the model type and code which will be stamped either above the spark plug (on metal cover of engine) or above the exhaust side.

We need more information on what is happening when you say you can't get it to start.

1. Does the motor turn over?

2. Does nothing happen when you turn key to start it?

The more info you can give us the better as we have many members that I am sure that are willing to help. cheers2

Hello
I should have said it winds over and just won't roar into life.
It's getting fuel but I'm thinking it's electrical if was car I'd say starter motor or spark plug but seeing as I'm not mower minded I'm stumped. I'll be out there tomorrow looking for that engine number.I'd check now but no light.
I really appreciate any help.
Thanks

Adrienne,

Ok what I need you to do is to see if you have spark at the spark plug.

You will need to remove the spark plug and connect the spark plug wire then hold it against the motor. The turn the motor over to see if a spark goes across the plug.

If not then you could have a faulty micro switch and that can be hard to work out as it is a process of elimination.

Let us know how you go with the spark issue first but make sure you have the park brake on as well as the blades disengaged as they have micro switches on them and that will stop the plug from sparking. cheers2

Hello
I went out to do that today but now the darn battery's gone to heaven. This is now put on hold till weekend as I won't have a battery till Friday. So will let you know what happens Saturday.
I'm starting to wish I'd bought a goat now.
Thanks
