Hi all, must be getting better at this online gig as think I have found the right spot to post.

My MS 310 grabbed a ring today and I am gutted. My questions are as follows

Can another cylinder/piston/ring set of larger capacity be fitted to the existing 310 crankcase?

What is the difference between a chinese import and genuine replacement kit?

What would other users do in my situation?
Details.
Chainsaw has only got about 50 hours on it in total
It did get a hot smell before I heard the ticking noise/spark plug colour supports this ( leaned out obviously but as per usual the fuel was correctly mixed LOL)
just had new bar and chain
Lots of sentimental value to this saw and would rather repair then replace
Have already removed engine from saw so can rebuild myself so would probably be looking at a parts cost only

I'm no chainsaw expert,but i am working on the same issue at the moment with my Husqvarna 359.

Can you put up a few pictures of the inside of the cylinder, and the piston, just to get an idea.

I dont know if you would need to go a larger size cylinder/piston if you are going new. you would if you can re-bore.

Any further detials and images you can add will help the guru's here give you the best advise they can.

OR BRTTER STILL GET THE 390 MOTOR COMPLETE AND IT WILL SLOT STRAIGHT INTO YOUR 310 FRAME THE DO A MUFFLER MOD AND RETUNE THE CARB TO RICHER SETTINGS AND YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY ;o)
