Hi Paul,
Well that's a bit of a good find isn't it ?
Your new acquisition would be around 1974 built and one can see that safety was already coming into play with that guard, which does look original being fitted. The actual model listing suggests that a G41 was originally fitted but maybe the G42 was fitted in its place, not quite sure on that point though as the commercial machines had so many customer orientated deviations from original specifications.
There is absolutely no reason why any problem with it can't be fixed as these machines are bulletproof.
Once again a superb pick up.
Cheers, BB.

Thanks Bloke
I'm told the rear roller has a planitary center to make it easier to manoeuvre around the lawn. I'm in need of the right half of the roller, if anyone knows of one plz let me know...

Nice buy! I reckon the super cuts are some of the best looking lawnmowers ever made. I would love to find one myself and do a full restoration

Nice buy! I reckon the super cuts are some of the best looking lawnmowers ever made. Hello CirilloI totally agree - a design classic. The Supercut was a refined design. The features that make this are the low post-war silhouette. The Supercut was one of the first Australian machines that incorporated low centre of gravity as a desirable design principle. Combine this with good engineering, quality materials, and beautiful aesthetics and this, in my view, is a design classic. The chaincase, itself, is a work of art! The more saved the better!------------------------------- Jack

It's the chaincase that I love the best. You would never see that level of detail on anything made today.
I'm yet to find one though

Hi SuperDooper,
Sadly the only way you're going to get that part is to kill another machine as a organ donor. These don't come up that often in that size to just go to scrap, so I guess it's just a waiting game.
I'll keep my eyes open here in Adelaide for you.
Cheers, BB.

If it is just the outer skin on the drum that is rusted out fairly easy to get one rolled and weld it up

If I recall correctly it was listed at around $3000 plus on ePrey, but ended up being sold for around the $1000 mark.

It is just like everything that somebody restores, it is done for the satisfaction of the restoration and cost becomes a minor factor and then the value only amounts to what somebody will pay for it

Yep.. Friend says " what do ya think its worth?"
I say "whatever someone is willing to pay"

I'm told the rear roller has a planetary center to make it easier to manoeuvre around the lawn. The Supercut did use a differential - as all quality reel mowers should. It wasn't planetary though - just the pawl arrangement in two sets. That's a great comment on what machines are worth Paul. My observation is that there is no direct connection between rarity, labour spent, and what the machine is 'worth'. The vagaries of the market are best summed up by John Maynard Keynes' coined phrase, 'animal spirits'. As you say, "whatever someone is willing to pay". This should be a great story to follow.
