Hi all I'm new to the forum so forgive me if this is posted in the wrong spot.
I recently bought a cox orion and am in the process of restoring it. It was fitted with a 12hp Tecumseh motor from new (model-ovxl120) which is showing signs of being a little tired. I would like to overhaul the motor and was after any info on spare parts suppliers/distributers and also info that may help me/things to look for and any little tricks others have learnt when stripping and rebuilding these motors.
I know of some local mower shops who can get parts in for me but I thought there may be a business who specialises in these spares and could even be a little cheaper if I ordered parts directly from them.
I could easily pull the motor off and send it away to be rebuilt but would rather do it myself as I think it will be rewarding.
I would greatly appreciate any help/info anyone can offer me.

grant81, We can upload workshop information manual regarding your engine to the parts list and manuals area but it will take a couple of days as it is a large file. The parts we also can supply if required at a reasonable price. Let me know and we will upload the information that you will need to preform the rebuild.

Yeah thanks bruce that would be great, I did however download a manual the other day, I'm not sure if it is any different to the one you have, this one was around 97 pages long, it looks to be the genuine manual. I havn't had a chance to have a good read of it as yet.
As for the parts list, that would be helpfull.
I would be after things like bearings, oversize rings(sizes),piston, gaskets, carbie kit, valves etc etc.
Who do I contact? Can you supply me with a name and phone number or instruction on how to order parts.
Thanks

Hi Grant81 i got advised with my tecumseh by retired small engine mechanic, for it to last and not use oil/blow smoke, you will need to Bore Cylinder out and put oversize piston/rings and no not advisable to use standard piston and OS rings. other way to go is Bore/resleeve, advantage is you can use standard rings and your piston. $$ well my quote for v70 7horsepower vertical was $75- to Bore/$115- to resleeve+35 for sleeve, yes BORE NOT HONING.on my tecumseh im getting it Bored out and getting 0.020 ovesize pistons/rings..Grant81 Because your motor is a 13hp you got a bit of room to move regarding spending money as they are not cheap NEW..my advise is dont cut corners and measure measure measure to make sure other components arnt worn,eg like conrod, crankshaft, bearings othewise your efforts will be shortlived. Partwise i got all my hard to get stuff at e-bay america,US dollar is low so Value for money even with american shipping costs. And yes fair bit of mucking about with part collecting so if your inexprianced better to use local suppliers in oz for parts..
