When I venture onto the forum I just go to my favorites folder and click the link, I have been doing this for years.

About a week or so ago I clicked the link and got a:

Not Found

The requested URL /forum/ubbthreads.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

So for a week I have not been able to access the forum, then for some reason I clicked another link I had and vola here we are, yet when I clicked other links from my favorites list I got the not found error on some but others were ok.

After a thorough forensic investigation smile I realised that some of my links had .com and others had .com.au and it was the .com.au ones giving the error.

So to wind up this baffling case my question is:

How did some of my links change from .com to .com.au especially the one I have used religiously to enter the site
www.outdoorking.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=12&page=1, as I have never edited any of my favorite link titles.

Did the site change from .com.au to .com recently??.

Over to the Sherlock's of the forum smile

Site has always been .com as long as I have known it so can't shed any light onto why your links changed in your bookmarks except maybe you have some sort of virus playing tricks on you?!

Hi Buckets and aussietrev,

I had the same thing happen to me about a week ago. I gained access via Google and then set up a new shortcut on my desktop and I was back in.

Very strange indeed.

Cheers,
BB

I thought of a virus, but nothing shows up with an anti virus or Malware check.

I just checked my other computer that I haven't used since last winter and it is the same, some .com and some .com.au.

Hi Buckets, Mod BB, and Aussietrev

I can't explain what happened a week ago,
but I have experienced similar issues with other websites.

I have come to realize that the best approach is to check
the hyperlink you save - it may be different to the hyperlink
you thought you saved. Database-driven websites may add specific
additions to the basic link from time to time.

If you click on the hyperlink 'properties' you will view
the actual saved link.

For OutdoorKing, both '.com' and '.com.au' will work.

So no one has gone mad about this.
It appears to me that, sometimes, the internet is just not user friendly.

Hope this helps.

Hey Pete,

Take it easy on Jack as he is in Tasmania where they still have a fleet of Handley Page aircraft and they haven't been informed that Elvis passed away.

Cheers,
BB

Exactly IHWS

Here is a picture of Elvis holding the reigns to one of our modern Handley Pages.
For all those mainland doubters, this photo was taken last week, using the
latest Daguerreotype process we have here in Hobart.
