Hi all
It seems crickets have taken up residence in my newly laid Santa Ana/ Nullarbor plain. Should I be concerned and attempt to fumigate them out? I would prefer to let the little buggers be, provided they are not going to be detrimental to the long term health of the lawn
Your thoughts?

Hi Joe,

So the Australian Cricket team has gone into breeding mode at your home. mmmmmmmmm that's good, I hope we get some good ones out of the the experiment. LOL

Cheers,

Next time you have the washing machine running take buckets of the warm soap water and pour it into their burrows. When they pop up, stick them in a container and feed them to someones chooks because they will make a hell of a mess of your lawn if left to their own devices.

Hi BB and Trev
Soapy washing machine water?????
I seem to recall the drought smart people of the ninety's installing 3 way diverters from their laundry waste pipes in order to maximize the effectiveness of their washing machine water, being subsequently informed that too much waste water would kill enzymes and good bacteria in the soil rendering it sterile and not fertile.
I get that what you propose is a one or two time thing, but I have put a fair amount of sweat equity into my rear lawn and shudder at the thought of killing off the nutrient supply for the grass
I'm all ears though if I can be assured it wont do it any harm
Cheers
