Hi Deejay. Now that`s how all mowers should look.As it`s not totally original(motor)do you intend using it or is it a 'look but don`t touch' item.Again, great looking.cheers GgordonN

Hi GgordonN, thanks so much for your kind comments, you're right of course, the motor is not original but I had had so many probs with the original engine (actually only 2, one was called Briggs and the other Stratton) lol, and Honda make such a good conversion....starts first pull every time!! This mower is used every week in summer and I clean it after use and a cut and polish once a year. I have done that since new; being in this condition makes maintenance very easy as you can spot any probs before they become serious ones. Kindest Regards, Darryl

G'day Deejay i finally got my hands on a Scotty 45 for the princely sum of $35. Can i ask what paint you used to restore yours, specifically the green. Mine is in surprisingly good nick but needs a freshen up. Its got a tecumesh engine thats turns over nicely. The primer bulb needs replacing though before i can try firing it up. I will start a separate thread on its restoration when i get some time to take pictures. cheers Mick

Hi double tap 2, Most of my machine is the original paint scheme, I haven't had any luck finding the original paint code, but if I wanted to do a repaint, I would use a modified Victa "Avocado Green" which would approximate the 'hammertone' colour of the Scotty. Best of luck with the restoration,if I find out any info re: paint , I will let you know asap!! Kindest Regards, Darryl to more Beers

Mick, I forgot to add that the most critical part of a 'resto' on a Scotty is the setting of the cylinder reel against the ' bed knife" (or bottom blade) Bruce has written a post some time ago on this subject in this topic, just scroll thru and you should find it. If you can't, just post and we will run you thru the drill!! KIndest Regards, Darryl

Thanks for that Darryl, i will have a poke round the mower taday to find the numbers etc. The paint on the body is OK but the chrome all needs re doing and the engine paint needs a touch up. The catcher needs paint. I wonder if Bunings could match the paint colour froma sample. Hmmmmmm.

Hi Mick, Yes, Bunnings would be certainly worth a try; perhaps also automotive paint suppliers may be able to help, Repco should be able to supply you with a spray can of the heatproof engine paint in orange that is very close to B&S colour.... Hoping this helps, Kindest Regards, Darryl

Hi toroman and thanks for your kind remarks, mate. Yes, I don't think I'll ever wear her out, and, once their in this condition, it is relatively easy to keep them in good trim and good repair

Darryl, Very nice original condition. A credit to you. I have 12 Scott Bonnar's in total. 9 model 45's, 1 model 40, 1 model 17 supercut, and a model 720. Matt.

Hi Matt, Wow, that is some collection, I would love to see some pics....I also have a single phase 240v electric Model 17 that is currently for sale; and I had a Model 40 that I gave away to a mate last year.(couldn't get a catcher for it) Scott Bonnars' are just a great machine, don't you agree?

Scott Bonnars were made to last, you just have to see how many are still around in great condition such as yours. They are my favourite mower.

Glad to see that it gets used. I always give my mowers a blow with compressed air after use.
