This weekend was very good for my mower collection
first thing i bought was A Pope Simpson Rotary Mower Fuel can and some manuals, second thing was a Pope and a Victa as a pair, then i bought another type of victa for spare parts for $10. The next thing i got was a early Pace Roto Mower with its original Manual and a slightly later fuel can for $100. later on i bought a small pope sprinkler which i think is pretty cool, some spare victa parts and some spanners. My dad also bought a Solo Chainsaw fuel can.
I will sell most things if you want them.

Hi Kye,

The most valuable find there is a very early Pace.
I hope you keep that one because it is your most valuable mower.
That it comes with an instruction book is just amazing!

Cheers

I thought is looked pretty rare Jack! Do you know what type of air filter they used as i think mine is missing, and i will definitely be keeping it since i have the manual.
Yes Slash i went to Toowoomba Swap meet, lots of mowers, saw a Victa Lightweight for just $5 with the catcher! Plenty of stationary engines as well. Sadly i had reached my mower limit, 3 mowers and a cart on the roof of a car already seemed pretty crazy coming down the highway laugh
Also are the wheels on the pace originals or from another mower? I am pretty sure it says Walter Barr on them, and he handle bars are different as well.

Thanks for reading
kye.

G'day Kye

Yep, it's a rare one - and important.
Dating from c1955, it is a very early Pace.
As you know, Pace would go on to be secretly bought by Victa:
this is an indication of the threat posed to Victa in the late
1950s.

I have just uploaded information on the Simplex motor:
https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=72319

The rear wheels are not original, but we need more pics of
the machine to continue.

Hope this helps.

And another thing ...

I love the Pope Sprinkler.
I have always been fascinated by tractor sprinklers.

Scott Bonnar made their 'Roamer' and your one was Pope's
premier domestic sprinkler. I hope to write about them.
I have a Pope 'Mountain Mist' from the 1940s.

Who doesn't love a good sprinkler?
And I might point out that sprinklers helped advance the
lawnmower cause, and the Pope - in particular - worked miracles laugh

I will take more pictures of the pace tomorrow afternoon jack. Your info on the simplex will become useful laugh . I am very happy i got that pope sprinkler, only cost me $4! sadly the original srinkler part on top has been replaced with a new one. Also the Platypus used the Simplex as well didn't it?

Hi Kye,

I would like to do a feature on the Pace.
I guess the best thing to do is for you to start a new topic
on it. It really does deserve its own stage, and I hope you
consider a full and careful restoration.

Also, if possible, good scans of the operator's manual.
That is a very rare document you have. I can supply an
email address to send the scans to, if you would like to
make the manual part of the record for Pace mowers.

You have a very good eye for important vintage mowers.

Quick smart, that's Pace!

Yes jack the pace will get a restoration for sure! I will scan the manual and start a new topic tomorrow as i am about to get to bed. I will also get more pictures. Also i am looking out for a pace spanner if anyone has one for sale.
Thanks for all the info given jack!

What color are the pope mowers and the sprinkler? i am planning on buying some paint and re-painting that sprinkler. I know someone who would wish they had it, he makes lots of stuff out of scrap metal, he makes these cool looking tractors out of Singer sowing machines laugh
