victa 160 ,the valve on the top-side of barrel maybe vaccum valve or wht ever can i block this hole off with a bolt the old unit on there is bggered,graham

Hi Gray You can use an old spark plug to block the hole .Just break the top of an old plug but you will probably have too much compression to pull it over without breaking the rope. You can get used de-compressors off Ebay from time to time . I will see if I have one in the shed .There are different lengths alo in the body.
Some of the aftermarket types are repairable . These have 3 clips ho;lding the 2 halves together and you can get a full kit at any mower shop . Cheers Joe

The valve cost about $7.00 and have some in stock but if it is not an after market decompresser then you will have to replace the complete unit. banghead

Not very often the valve does break but the diaphragms usually go along with the sponge filter and the replacement kits are around the $7 mark. cheers2
