2-sroke not starting

Hi, I have a Victa 2-stroke. Bought it second-hand a year or so ago. It has been good to start until now. Can't get it to fire. I have replaced the spark plug, but nothing. It also seems to be losing air with each turn of the motor as I pull the cord. Seems to be coming from somewhere near a filter that screws into the head. Any suggestions?

Blown decompressor valve by the sound of it I would say, or possibly a blown head gasket

Sal,

I agree with MST.

One way to tell if it is the decompresser or the head gasket is to just put a spark plug where the deco goes and if you still have the same noise then it is the head gasket but if not then it is the deco. cheers2
