Hi - great site - I was given a secondhand Ryobi PLT 3043s 30cc Lawn Hornet (I think - not sure that is the correct model name) and I do not have the Operators Manual - have no idea from looking at and fiddling with it as to how I wrap the cord onto the head. I have previously used a Husqvarna whipper snipper which is totally different to the Ryobi in this area. Thanks heaps in anticipation of any help.

GrassQueen1,

Is the head that holds the nylon in an Orange colour?

If it is then you do not need to take it apart as all you need to do is line up the two triangles on the head.

Then put nylon into the eyelet and it will come up in the centre. Place it in small hole then pull back on the nylon. Do this on both sides then wind the centre section of the head up till the nylon is loaded.

You will only need about 1.5 meters of nylon on each side.

Hope that this is of some help. cheers2

Hi GrassQueen1,

Your model is actually the same as a Homelite F2020 model. The way to wind it is:

*Remove bump knob and spool.
*On the spool, you will see two arrows marked 1 and 2. Follow those arrows and you will see holes on the inside of the spool.
*Cut about 1.5m of nylon line, then cut in half (so you end up with two equal lengths approx 75cm long)
*Insert one end of one of the seperate nylon lines into hole number 1, then rotate onto spool the same direction as the arrow shows. when near end of nylon, lock into one of the little slots in the spool so you can let it go!
*repeat procedure for hole number two, and finish your nylon opposite the first one.
*insert the nylon through the outer spools outlet holes and reassemble. Pull cord through the holes so they come out of the locking slots and you are set!

GrassQueen1,

Just click this LINK and go to page 16 of the operators manual for directions on how to install the nylon line for your machine.

Hope that you find this of some help. cheers2
