My son gave this to me with a broken air cleaner housing. The local mower shop has this on order for over a month and can't say when it may come in. The machine seems OK otherwise (compression etc ), but I am wondering if parts for these are hard to get, and I should give up and toss it?

BobT,

The parts will be hard to get but I am sure that you will be able to locate a second hand one. I will see if I can locate one but it looks very much the same as the Tanaka Blower air filter which is available. cheers2

Thanks Bruce for the quick reply. I hope you are able to find one, as I hate throwing repairable machines away. However with the multiplication of models now, we seem to be moving into disposable everything!

Bruce & Calvin,
As I have not heard from you, I suppose it means you have had no luck with the air cleaner housing.
Does anybody else out there have an old Grass Ranger ( model RCT 2200 ) that I can buy for parts?

Does your Grass Ranger look like this one, it runs but needs a new
bump line head.

Thanks gmax, but mine is a later one, with the prime bulb underneath the air cleaner which is on the side. I doubt that it would fit without major mods. I will have to work out how to attach photos! [Linked Image from ]

Eureka!
The local shop had a mate with a new part ( $29.50 ), that he was able to get for me - NLA from Ryobi. So the the little Ranger is whizzing nicely now - thanks all for trying.

I have one of these i want to sell for parts, the starter assembly
is broken but the motor has done little work.
No need to replace the primer bulb on these, just bypass it, they
will still start easily without the primer bulb.

The starter housing is nearly the same as a Talon. I use one on a ryobi repair because the spring kept coming adrift and locking up on the pulley. cheers2

Hi,
I've snapped the flexible shaft and local shop cannot get one for the Ryobi RCT2200 Grass ranger. Motor etc is fine if I can get a shaft? It is 1225 mm long with square drive ends 4-5 mm.
Any chance??

Rustycr01,

Your local mower shop should be able to supply a shaft that os 1220mm long and all you will have to do is take off 5mm on the tube and all will work ok as I have done it before. cheers2

G'day gmax,
Quote
I have one, but i have no idea what their worth.
Last year I broke the upper flex drive in a Ryobi Lawn Hornet 2
(split shaft) and I had to buy the whole upper assembly; ie.shaft, outer tube etc. and that cost me $82.00.They won't sell the flex drive as a separate unit! What a ripoff!! mad
2 weeks later the lower one broke, I didn't bother checking the price on that; I scrapped the lot!! Just a load of Ryobi rubbish!! wink
Kindest Regards, Darryl grin

cheers

Thanks Darryl, Your right that is a ripoff!I'm so glad i bought
a Kawasaki line trimmer 15 years ago, still as good as the day i bought it.
Buying cheap tools is false economy, which only contributes to landfill.I bet Bruce wouldn't bother selling cheap tools that are likely to fail.
Regards gmax
