Hi there - I'm new to this forum and probably wouldn't be here if I wasn't so over eager!!

Anyway, I've managed to strip one of the bolts that hold the bar in place. Have managed to get the old one out (shank dia of 7.90mm) by stripping the machine and pushing it into the oil reservoir. However, all other M8 bolts that I've tried only have a 7.80mm dia shank and therefore don't fit properly into the original hole - they're too loose.

Any suggestions? Are spare bolts available? I'm considering glueing a very similar bolt in place using metal glue, but will wait and see if anyone else has any other easier, better plans.

Thanks!

wb243,

What model saw is it as they have different bolts and if it is an old one it will be imperial not metric. cheers2

It's a 6000 41A... However, the threads are definitely M8 x 1.25mm. I've checked at the Bunnings warehouse thread checker thingy. The head of the bolt suggests it's imperial but it's not.

Thanks

Thansk Bruce....

That's what the bloke at Specialty Fasteners said when he saw the head of the bolt, but the threads are M8 x 1.25... Really wierd...

Where can I order a bolt from?

Thanks Bruce.

If possible, I'm also after a new bar - not sure which part number it would be but the saw is only going to be used around 4-5 times a year for camping trips and the odd backyard job. The current bar (20" I think) is cactus but doesn't have a sprocket in the end.

Might as well get a new air filter while I'm going - 214226. Or can the existing one be cleaned and re-oiled?

Cheers

wb243,

The bar and air filter won't be a problem but I will need to find out about the bolt and that could take a couple of days. cheers2

Thanks Bruce - I'll await your reply on the bolt availability. In the meantime, could you suggest a replacement bar and fwd price for bar and airfilter.

Out of interest, the current air filter is ok... Does that mean I can just clean and re-oil? If so, what type of oil do I use?

Thanks

wb243,

That air filter is a felt type and if it is worn I would be replacing it.You do not need to oil the filter. cheers2

wb243,

Ok here is your pricing for the parts:

1. Bar Bolt $12.50

2. Air Filter $15.45

3. Bar 20" $102.50 This is a sprocket nose bar (Pro type) The chain should have 70 drive links on it.

Postage would be approx $15.00

Let me know and I will get it rolling as I have to get the parts from different suppliers.

wb243,

You can use the pay now button or you can direct deposit but the pay now is quicker as I have to wait for the direct deposit to show up on the account and some times it takes a couple of days.

Just PM your address details for postage. cheers2
