Hi all,
Just thought i'd share a rebuild/resto i did earlier this week
[Linked Image]
Here's the original body i used with a fried 2 stroke on it.

[Linked Image]
The Corvette 450, which was riddled in rust and beyond repair, became the donor for wheels, axles, handle bars, back door and engine.

Body was stripped, bare metalled, etch primered, hi-filled, wet rubbed, primered, and finished in 5 coats of 2 pac yellow.
Not a bad result in the end.

Hello MOD Bigted

That's a mighty piece of cookin' there!
So the fried 2-stroke was not in the recipe...
The 4-stroke Briggs looks brand new. Is it?

A very nice job mate, and sunny-side up too.

Cheers.

Hi Jack, the motor actually came of the crappy, rusty corvette above, surprisingly the motor was immacualte, a quick, light mist of clearcoat got it looking good, not too glossy just a nice satin sheen look to it, like OEM.

Hi Bigted

I see why so many folk come to these forums - to pick up these
tips or 'tricks' for their own restorations. I'm pretty
ignorant in this whole area of 'restoration'.

I do have an idea though ... for a reality TV show ...
... [drum-roll]..."Changing Garden Sheds".

Forever amateur. frown

Theo that looks fantastic.

I am a little curious if you use a brush or paint from a can as your finish looks very smooth.

Personally I use a flap disk, prime the base and then a couple of coats of decent quality kill rust or similar.

I think I might have missed the use of wet and dry sandpaper like you mentioned to get the super smooth finish.

Anyway the mower looks fantastic and Im sure it will sell quick.

Hi Peter, the paint is automotive 2 pack used through a gravity fed spray gun. The only thing missing is that i dont spray them in an oven. Just do them outdoor and hope no dust etc gets blown on them before the paint cures. Generally touch dry in an hour and ready to handle in 24hrs. Hot summer days are good for that, can normally paint one in the morning and assemble it by mid afternoon.
