hi guys i have a stihl fs85, about a year old hardly used
problem is, first job of the day starts no problem, use it, turn it off.Next job, if i try to start it again, it just won't start.
this happens all the time, hot or cold weather.pull it out the next day ,starts straight up again. any suggestions ?

slasherzzz,

Can you do a couple of things:

1. Check the fuel filter in the tank and see if it looks dirty. If so replace it.

2. Check the muffler because they usually have a spark arrester and tend to get blocked up if so clean the mesh with a wire brush.

3. Also check the exhaust port for blockage (carbon) and if it is has a carbon build up clean it out.

4. If you are using a champion spark plug then change to NGK as well.

Let us know what happens and if this does not fix your problem then get back to us for more information. rolleyes

Thanks Victorman, try out the suggestions on the weekend,
i usually do most of the suggestions every couple of months, with my other machinery, didn't think of the fuel filter because when it does run it is fairly smooth, plug's new Nkg,spark arrestor is clean,i'll check for carbon exhaust buildup though

slasherzzz,

Let me know about the exhaust port carbon and the fuel filter in the tank.

I would replace the fuel tank filter even if it looks clean and use a walbro type not a after market one. rolleyes
