hi bruce
a mate of mine has this generator carnt see the make or model its about 15 years old is on a house boat its electric start it has this cast box on the engine which has the points and condenser in it but the problem is after a while the spark jumps across from the points to the cast box and cuts the engine out the mechanic comes out and changes the points and condenser and its ok again for a couple of months and then the same thing happens what would cause this to happen so often

mattauto,

Ok the easy way to fix your problem is bypass the points and condenser with an electronic module. The problem I think will be moisture.

Can you post a picture so we can see the motor. cheers2
