Today I was given this, quite a decent machine indeed.

It seems to be in good order all up, decent compression, smooth movement, good spark, and clean serviceables, along with new belts. The chassis is in good condition, and all cables are intact with free movement of the contols.

It seems a good clean up, and a new battery will be all this machine needs smile

Anyone run with one of these before?

I'm not much for having a mower pile these days, my old VC-160 does all I could ask every time, but once done up, I may have a good home for this one, a friend who could use a self propelled for her rather large lawn (that is, when I don't talk my way into popping by to mow... I sadly have little grass, so the chance to really warm the Vc up is perfect!! smile smile smile )

Cheers
Ty

Hi Ty, i've never had or used one of these machines but it sure does look like a solidly built machine and the John Deere's do have a good reputation as i'm sure you are fully aware. I was curious as to what engine sits abreast this beast? It looks like a Kawasaki but thats only a guess from looking at the pics.

It is indeed a kawasaki, and today, it ran, just a top up of oil and a little fuel, and off she went! The pull starter needs a clean, a little reluctant to catch the engine, and of course the batrery and belt cover need to be replaced, but apart from that, it's starting first (engaged) pull, running smooth cutting well and driving great!

The interesting thing is the deadmans swutch on this one, blades stop almost instantly, but no need to restart... It runs a clutch under the motor, and has a two part engage so that kiddies can't re-engage the blades when running!!!

Cheers
Ty
