hi all,

i know this may seem stupid, but here goes.

The carb on my McCulloch Whipper snipper sucks fuel up from the tank below. How does it do this?

is there a resource or manual to demonstrate how these diaphragm carbs work? as i cant understand it at all.

and when they suck the fuel up, what is the head height, like how low down can i put the tank, as im thinking of moving it on a scooter project.

thanks all, silly i know.

sharp.

sharp,

Ok with the carby it does not really suck the fuel from the tank you require the fuel from the tank to be flowing to the carby otherwise the machine will not run correctly.

How it works is that the tank usually has a one way vale in the cap which allows air pressure from outside in which in turn forces the fuel up the pipe to the carby and then the carby pump comes into action.

As to information on how it works I will need to know what make the carby is either zama or walbro etc.

Here is a link to Walbro Carby info smile
