Hi Flatlinerz,

Remove fuel line from carby and Drain the tank into a container, then Remove it.

Throw in a small amount of turps to breakup the gunk. Give it a good shake.

Drain and flush With Water.

Hot water flush with detergent(again giving it a good shake) then drain and finish with a hot water rinse.

Blow out to dry or mop up excess water with a clean rag.

Remove tap and flush through. Blow out tap and filter then check seals if applicable.

Refit tap or replace.

Refit tank and fill, checking for leaks.

Clean cap the same way and blow out.

Conpressed air only to dry. NEVER NAKED FLAME.

Good luck. ...

Personally, I take the filter off the tap, but leave the tap in, and closed, then 3/4 fill with metho, and a good handfull of small, clean, aquarium rocks, a few layers of gladwrap under the fuel cap to seal, then a good shake for a minute, empty, and repeat two more times without the rocks, flushing a little metho through at the end, while swirling with the tap out, then just leave to dry.

Cheers
Ty

Wow that's seems like it takes some time.I just spray in some de-greaser shake it about. With tap and fuel cap on.Then rinse out with water until water becomes clear. Then depending on whether I need the tank I either blow it out with air gun or sit it in the sun.I guess if you don't have a compressor then I'd properly still use de-greaser but I'd have to find some brush or brushes to go inside and wash it like that.I don't use metho as Mr Davis said as if it has a lot of oil (Say in a 2 stroke application) metho really isn't the best a moving the build up gunk around and generally still hangs around. He'd properly get the same result with water and the small rocks.

Here for a good time, not a long time.
