Hey,
I'm trying to fix my dad's Victa 2 stroke, 160cc, lawn mower, Model No: SSA201B. It's the model with the black plastic carby.
The machine starts fine when it is cold and runs happily enough until you switch it off. (empty catcher etc.). Then it is near impossible to re-start again when it is warm/hot.
The only recently change was a new spark plug, and a through clean of the clinder head and exhaust/muffler. Unfortunately for me, I had to use a cheap spark plug equivalent, because it was the only one available at the time.
Any idea what the problem may be? Could the spark plug be the problem here, i.e wrong temp rating.
thanks in advance. CC

ccar512, I would be changing the spark plug with an NGK BPMR6A first. If you are getting a carbon build up(grey looking on electrode) that might be the problem. When you get carbon on the electrode it shorts out the plug (No spark no go). 1. What is the air filter like? 2. Take the fuel line off the carby and check the flow of fuel. Try these things first and let us know.

Thanks Bruce,
I'll change the plug and see how it goes.
1. What is the air filter like? Ok, it's not new, but reasonably clean.
2. Take the fuel line off the carby and check the flow of fuel. Yeah the fuel flow is ok. - already checked.
Where can I get the workshop manual for this mower?
thanks CC

Bruce,
I've replaced the spark plug and bought a new filter. But it seems now that the mower doesn't want to start. It doesn't seem to kick over.
I've noticed a black oily sludge coming from the decompressor. Could this mean the decompressor is a gonna?
I tried the old trick of putting an old spark plug in the decompressor hole, but couldn't get it to start.
Regards CC.

ccar512, Did you put the air filter in the correct way? How old is the fuel in the machine?
