g'day. name's glen and after a long while without one i have another viccie. last one had a steel base and i believe a 148cc donk. moving meant parts were stolen from work where i kept it. swore i'd get another and now have.

new one is an old one(model 5 from pictures i've seen for comparison). bought off ebay and near complete, my little 18 special needs love and time. wondering what i can and can't get if i need it and what easily transfers between models. the carb is now cleaned out and doesn't leak or flood but the O rings on the fuel [Censored] plunger are somewhat unhappy. are they a regular garden variety size/part?. the donk has good compression and looks presentable enough. one wheel is shot, the intake duct is long gone but i have a later convoluted type for now. paint is not an issue as it ain't a resto and i can live with unoriginality in most aspects if the benefit outweighs the wank value of all stock standard(doe's later leccie ignition transfer over, etc....). i'll likely never need to mow with it but want all functioning and looking presentable. i realize this is a vague set of questions, but will get some more specific queries for ya's as i get it into tiny pieces and work out whats wrong. will put a pic of the big girl up once i get settled in here.

just briefly, was there ever an actual trimmer produced to utilise the cast channel in the baseplate and where might i find a photo of one or the clip(?) that holds down my little plastic cover that is there in it's place.

thanks.

engel,

Most parts are still available i.e. snorkel hose air filter spark plug points condenser "o"rings for fuel tap throttle cable fuel line wheels blade plate & blades. yay

The Victa Special name plate that goes in the handle is expensive and hard to get. devilchilli

Technical Information is also available in the Parts list and manuals area. cheers2

they look good and all but the whole thing never cost me that much. reckon i'll cordially give em a miss for a fair while. are the odds of someone having "a" non buggered one that they've replaced somewhere collecting dust at a reasonable price. i'm not knocking the new ones as it costs a fair bit to tool up for small production runs, but i'm not a conoisseur and would happily live with a sound one that looks like crap. any takers?

i had used the blade holder nut, three 7/16 head val dash to column bolts and a series of broadening washers. may make a more permanent type later on if needed again but off once and on again was enough to get the points sorted. thanks for the offer. on another note, the handle bars were loose on the plate to tube bracket. i inserted some wet and dry between the clamp shells around the tube and it's doing the job for now. is there a preferred method?

it's together again with the new base plate and will come to bits piece by piece for painting. room is at a bit of a premium in my shed and i'd preferif nothing got misplaced. is it normal for the link shaft to slide back and forth and out of the female square at the front? have i put it in backwards or is something missing?
