Absolute novice here. Where do I find the model number on a Super torque engine?

a photo can tell a lot, generally an exact model number can be found onthe air cleaner cap if its still there and the original unit.

You will find that a picture says a thousand words, so could you post some pics of your machine with the manufacturers name at least...the name super torque does not ring a bell with me....Power-torque yes, super torque no.

Haha, yes it is a Power Torque.

That little oil spill on the bench near the engine came out of exhaust outlet, should I be concerned about that? I've never really delved into a two stroke before and I'm not sure how the oil side of things works. I know its in the fuel but I don't know how I could end up with oil on its own.

As mr.McKay has said, now we know it is a Victa, have a look at the top of the air cleaner, which is on the top of the snorkel tube on the upper handle, there should be a sticker with the model number or V code.
We have a lot of Victa aficionados on the forum, who will help you with any probs you may have.

a bit of oil build up in the muffler is ok , it may just be that the previous owner ran too much oil in the fuel mix , or from attempting to start the engine and fuel being blown into the muffler , the fuel may have just evaporated and left the oil.
It may also hint that the piston rings are badly worn however dont be stressing about it until you have had it running.
