G'day to all, chook's the name

I recantly purchased a victa 18 at a garage sale for $5 and it has a very weak almost none existant spark, so i guess ill start with a new coil, condensor, points, and spark plug.

Where would be the best place to purchase these and what should i expect to pay?, also what is the correct heat range spark plug?

cheers chook...

P.s ill post some pics as soon as she is back together and runing.

chook,

Before you go buying any parts I would be doing the following:

1.Clean the points with emery paper
2.Clean the flywheel magnets with emergy
3.Clean the earth contacts (where the 'E' plate sits on the engine)

Then check what the spark is like with a new plug. bigshock

The cost of points & condensor would be about $14 max and the coil would be about $30+. cheers2

1.Clean the points with emery paper yep done that
2.Clean the flywheel magnets with emergy done
3.Clean the earth contacts (where the 'E' plate sits on the engine) ill try that but it's pretty darn clean in there
Then check what the spark is like with a new plug. bigshock

The cost of points & condensor would be about $14 max and the coil would be about $30+. cheers2 [/quote]

Chook,

Are the points pitted? confused

If so you will have to replace them. woot

The coil should be the last thing that you replace as it is the most expensive. cheers2
