Hi everyone,
I have recently acquired an Atco 1454 2 stroke (rope start)that was in a non-going condition. After many failed attempts at getting motor running, I decided to remove the flywheel to check points etc. & found an electronic ignition module had been fitted at some stage. I noticed two arrow marks, one on the crank case & one on the flywheel & I suspected ignition timing was out. The marks were aligned just before TDC & the motor fired first pull.
I have no idea on what the correct ignition timing should be & I don't know what model Villiers engine is fitted either.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have attached an image

bolster,

The information that you require is in the parts list & manuals area in question on lawnmowers. bigshock

The timing on a villiers (Atco) motor motor is usually 3/16" before top dead centre and the two arrows should be lined up. This is based on points setup not electronic ignition. yay

I hope that this is of some help. cheers2

Thanks Bruce.
I will try & reset the timing as above.
Also I have noticed another mark on the flywheel that may be the "new" timing marks. I'll align & see if it makes any difference.
I don't suppose there would be any point blocks/condensors etc. lying around if I wanted to revert this to the traditional ignition?
Bolster.
