Hi everyone, I got this mower going with a drill. Starts no worries but doesn't idle at all and can someone tell me if this motor is started with a pull starter or a wind-up starter. Kav 74 spec F6656 seriel 22690563 .

Hi Roebuck, just by looking at the starter cup it would be an impulse starter.

I think the KAV74 may only have been supplied with an impulse starter. In addition to the thread that gizmo posted, this may be the only other KAV74-related thread we have:

I wonder if it is the same starter that was fitted to the much more common 4 stroke Kirby Lauson? Finding parts specifically for that 2 stroke is unlikely to be easy, and some of the bolt-on bits look rather similar.

If you inbox me I may have the parts. I have a kav74 in parts pretty sure. An I have the impulse starter off it. I have lots of new old stock to suit the engine aswell. I could also put pics up here if people know much about the parts related to this engine :-)
