Yes nice Rover, running a Villiers Torque master, seemingly an Auto with a Victa impulse starter. Never seen that starter on this engine, seems to have an adaptor plate underneath. I like the date coding on the rover badge too. Very interesting example fuggins. Loving the Marine, will restore up beautifully. 2 model 5s as well cool! Serials seem ok just switch the engines from one to the other if you want as they will be more accurate if your after originality. Thanks for the inages mate, nice lil collection you have:)

It seems to be rover month...Love to see this one restored Gizmo, especially with its catcher. Theres four on ebay in a single sale, 2 autos and one with a cool catcher.

Just For Your Reference Giz,Yours is running the Villiers Torque Major",Fuggins has the Villiers Torque Master" with a starter ive not seen before on this engine:) I have a 62 Wayfarer here also, its in really good nick but the briggs on it is a later version so i dont know what ill do with it.

gizmo, the main difference between the two engines are that the torquemaster has a 7f engine with a 50mm bore and 50mm stroke and is 98 cc capacity, while the torquemajor has a 140 engine of 57mm bore and 55mm stroke with a capacity of 142 cc,regards john.

Heyyyy you beat me to it lols. John is spot on:). The 7f also came in man/cable throttle or auto. The 7f Torque Master was widely used on a number of brands, Rover Villiers (Typhoon Tornado)Tempest and Villager,Pace and a few generics like Hg Palmer. The engine is quite deceiving due to its large overall appearance making it seem more than only 98cc, but has a claimed power output of 4hp,which is the same Hp rating for the larger capacity Torque Major". The Torque master was the next gen engine for Villiers after the 98cc midgets. The earliest fittment for the 7f that im aware of would be the 57 Villiers Tempest. Im unclear for the Villager but id say approx the same time....others may confirm. Dont know to much of Torque Major except capacity and some fittments. They dont come up to often maybee cost was a factor, but ive seen them fitted on Scott bonnar Pace Turner and Rover of the early 60s period. And btw Giz...is there anything you dont have? Lols. A Villiers tempest perhaps?ha ha Im Still chasing one...
