Hello I am Bruce! I am the moderator of most forums here.

This Bulletin board was developed for the purpose of helping the general public address problems with their ground care equipment and garden maintenance. :Wavey:

I have been in this industry since 1966. I still enjoy what I am doing in both repairing and in the contracting side of things as well. The reason that I started up this board was to share the knowledge I have acquired thru the years with the other members of the board. On the other side of the coin, I look forward to possibly learning something from you too.

As you know, trying to get information from people usually costs. In this forum, it is basically free and I am trying to keep it that way. Of course, any support thru donations would help with the continuing cost would be greatly appreciated.

I am hoping that the members put ideas that maybe helpful and useful to the greater majority of this board.

I encourage you to share your constructive ideas in the forums.

Thank you for your interest and I do hope to be of help to you.

Hi Bruce.
Now that I've had a bit of a look around the site, joined and received some info from you, I thought it was about time to introduce myself.
My career has been primarily with motor vehicles.
Always playing with m/cycles and cars until I started an apprenticeship with farm machinery and trucks for International Harvester.
Five years later I moved on to motor cars of all makes, primarily Mercedes Benz, as we were a Benz service dealership. After fifteen years I moved on to the local Ford dealership where I still am. Like you I believe in sharing your knowledge (you cant take it with you)to this end I joined the local Computer Users Group (as I have been working with them so long as a hobby) to do just that. I have been president of the Group for three years now and am still getting much enjoyment out of helping others. I also plan get stuck into the tree in my backyard real soon with my McCulloch.(that should be fun).
Dav..

Age is no excuse to stop learning.

Hi, Bruce.
I just retired for medical reasons and now find the time to catch up on longtime interests. I can't do much mowing yet, but love tinkering. You're right, never too old to learn. As an ex teacher I understand how the mind atrophies and dies unless it is constantly stimulated. A Victa 18 is one way to do that!
So.. I've just bought a Victa 18 which has been long neglected. First job, a carb recondition. I've got the new needle, O-ring, etc from the "experts", but it bears no corellation to the original. Ah, such is life. That's what these forums are for, I guess.
Terry.

Hi, names Rod,spent 21 years in the army in vehicle maintenance.Served in Vietnam in 1971 with the 2nd Ordnance Battalion.Spent the rest of my time in the service traveling from state to state.Reached the dizzy heights of Sergeant Major. I am now retired and trying to keep myself active by dabbling in anything and everything.I love doing odds and sods to keep the mind active.I build the occasional car trailer and bike trailer when I am bored.I also build and repair computers for friends and relatives.I have been doing that for about 15 years. You really never know how many friends you have when they know you fix computers. lol
I am now in the process of rebuilding a ride on mower first attempt so fingers crossed.I may be annoying people with the odd question, or two, or three.
Hope I can contribute to this forum.

Good Day, Bruce and all,

Yesterday we (my husband and I) bought a used McCulloch Eager Beaver Chain Saw, model# 60013302. It seems to be in good running order but we have been searching for information about it on the Internet. Google brought me to the a post on the old forum :
https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/board/Forum35/HTML/000001.html

I know it was 4 years ago but am hoping if we should ever need any parts, you may still have some available.

What we use a chain saw for, you might ask? We moved onto a piece of uncleared property. In the space of 3 years we have been able to fell close to 200 trees and can see the sky in our front yard. Only recently we were able to get the stumps pushed up and have practically cleaned them all up. We are able to burn them on our property, and time is free, so we have been washing out the dirt and trimming them down and pushing the movable pieces to the burn pile. Our original saw (A Sears model) finally wore flat out.

We hope the McCulloch will be useful for a good while. Got it at a pawn shop and the price was something we could afford to spend and not suffer too much of a loss should it fail us.

Looking forward to browsing the forum and getting to know the regulars.

Hi all. My name is Cliff and I get very annoyed at those that throw out old mowers. This means I started up a mower retirement village, or, somewhere old mowers can go and rest with the usual aim to get them going again or helping other mowers to do this. I have been in the power industry on the mechanical side for over 28 years but being off the tools in the office for the last 18 years or so I like to keep my hand in and stay "mechanical". Mowers etc help me to do this. My latest project is a mid 80's Rover Ranger with a sick/worn gearbox hence my question in the ride on forum. See how it goes.

Supppose I better join in and say HI!

Just looking for some assistance with overhauling an old(ish) Victa Mayfair. My brother gave it to me as I can't afford a new mower just now(!); it worked once...sort of...and then wouldn't start again. Cleaned out the carby and thought it was looking good, but still no joy. frown

Anyway, hopefully I'll be able to find the info I need here!

Looking forward to chatting with you.
Cheers - Andrew

Hello.
My name is Magnus and I am a chainsaw collector in Sweden.
I also have a chainsaw collectors forum for those in to the old bears.

Collecting saws is the thing closest to my heart, but I also tinker a bit with the newer stuff.

Good to get on here!

Magnus!

Hello all.
I have been collecting about 4 years. Started out 04 with 3 firewood saws.
Now it is more or less my hole life!
I love this hobby!

Hello Bruce and others, My name is Stan and bulletin board are new to me. :)I found this one today whilst looking for parts for my McCulloch SP 70 which I bought new in 1978 and now have not been able to find a carby kit.

I like the sharing attitude of your site and hope I may be able to help someone in return.

I am currently working on a remote Aboriginal Community in NT as the housing manager. My work history is pretty varied but mostly in Roadworks as a technical officer.
I will post a photo of my saw and some questions if I can find the right areas.
Cheers
