the spark plug of my st 155 is always light grey almost white i use husqvana oil mixed at 50:1 and the H needle set to where it four stroking no load would it be better to use nomal two stoke oil and mix it at homelites recomended 32:1 or may be 25:1? also on carb setting if i close the H needle to where i hear the revs drop how far should i open it from that point, thanks for your help in the past bruce, tommy. ireland

Tommy, I would be using the 32:1 or 25:1 which is recommended by Homlite. As to the mixture of the H & L needle the procedure is that you set the L first then H last. When setting the H you bring it to when the machine peaks then back off 1/8 th of a turn. Also check your cylinder for light scoring because if you have been using a 50:1 mix it might be to light and caused the cylinder to be damaged. Regards, Bruce

thanks bruce i have have a tach so i just close the H needle watch the tach for the highest rpm then open it 1/8 of a turn and if it were a chainsaw the same but open the H needle 1/4 of turn? tommy

with regard to homelites 32:1 ratio i seen on one reply where you said you could use 50:1 depending on oil i tought husky oil should be ok in anything if you go by its recomended ratio on the container the other oil ihave is finol fina mix its a semi synthetic oli maybe you never come across it i would mix that 32:1 any toughts? tommy

Tommy, Their is confusion as to what rate you can mix oil at but you have to follow what the manufacturer recommends as the oil companies will revert back to the manufacturer. That is why I now use manufacturers rates not oil companies. Regards, Bruce
