I have bought a Austral/Villiers with a midget Mk2 engine which I am returning back to its former beauty (hopefully). While checking the piston out and replacing it back into chamber I broke one of the piston rings !!! The piston itself is 50mm and the ring is 52.5 mm Has anyone rebuilt one of these and if so does anyone know where I can get one from ? I am new to mowers but have done up a Atco deluxe 17" and a Victa imperial 17" both given as presents to family. This one is for me and am at a loss as I can not get any reply from UK suppliers ie Meetons and Villierparts.uk. The barrel is a B6698
I drew a blank many times over with new pistons and rings for the midget and junior. Sorry im on my phone and cant pqste the link.....google JP pistons they are in SA they list some villiers parts and were looking into the piston set for midget 98cc last I called. They do custom orders from memory or match sizing with your sample. Check em out as its all ive got. If it turns to gold please leave some info for future reference if you could
Im sorry I dont have ring specs for the midgets. You will need to send the piston and rings to them and they will try and find a match for you. And no you cannot use smaller rings, they must be a perfect fit to the bore size with no more than an 8 thou (approx) runout. If its more for display then tolerances need not be so critical. Ah I know them well ,used to get my decals from them...Never thought to enquire about rings from them though. Thanks for the reply Skymon. This will be of great benefit to other restorers of the Midgets for pace and Rotomo Fans.,And as you said cheap quick and easy. Thanks Mate!!!!
