Hi all, just wanted to show off my latest find from my scrappy. A new condensor and a quick clean of the kill switch and and she was off and running(and stopping) like a beauty.

Woowee!

One Of my Favorites, the 1973-1974 VC-Sports, Coded V137.

Series 70 MKIII Engine, the last to use the G3 Carby, it was essentually the same as the MKII engine, using a decompressor and recoil starter combined for Victa's famous 'Zip' start system, however minor alterations were made to the ignition, and a few minor updates to the carby.

This was the First sports, it was a major part of the line up that came in in 1973 to replace the VC-160 which had run from 1970. The Line up included the VC Sports in multiple colour options (the first time there was a choice in colour) the VC Mustang, again in more than one colour, the colpletly restyled VC-125 (now given the appearence of the Sports) and the Impala (available in 2 & 4 Stroke)

From a collection stand point, other interesting mowers to go aside this one would be anything from it's coluor spread (Orange/White, Green/White, and Purple/Aqua) or any of the 73 Mustangs (Green/Green & Red/White)

Restoration wise, it looks damn near perfect, the nose is a little pushed in, but everything seems to be original and intact, catch lever not snapped, starter grip correct (designed to fit the mustang too) and all the right wheels. provided the air filter and throttle lever set up are right (not visible), she's spot on!

Cheers
Ty

Thanks Ty, yes it appears to be very original and a low miler also. Admittedly i changed the catch lever cos it was snapped. Correct throttle and airfilter with the V137 sticker intact are present.

Hi BIGted, Jonesy, Mr Davis and ODK members,

Bigted, that's such a nice and mild restoration of a classic. Awesome!
Ty's summary was, as always, fantastic, and incisive as well.

The 1970s is my favourite decade for all things Victa.
Purple flaired pants, wide white belt, paisley shirt, cravats . .
and the Purple/Aqua VC Sports. What a sight!

Thanks for sharing BigTed!

All very psychedelic.

Well I don't know about about green with envy.Maybe if it was a green one. However it does make mine one look a lot older and used.

See no where nears as nice.
So good work there Bigted,it's a shame we weren't closer.
I do need to try and find the other VC-Sports as I only have two. This one and the purple one.

Yes well that is one of them. There is an orange and a green that run G4 carbys.
Here are the two I had.I really don't know what I did with this first one.All I know is I don't have it anymore.Wished I still did it was fixable and would have been worth it.
See the side the air hose comes out.

This was the other I had,in fact it was the first of the two I had.
This ones base was so worn like it had been mowing sand.It had holes all through the left side of the base. This one I wrecked out until I could find a base. That didn't happen before the move,so I don't think there is much left of it now.Bugger.
[Linked Image]
Look past the carby on the right.Yes that is a hole.Again worn down not broken, worn.
[Linked Image]
This one has the air hose on the opposite side.
[Linked Image]
I'm not even sure I have the dress cowl anymore and there wasn't much wrong with it.One partially broken fin.I seem to have miss placed a lot of items from that move.Items I wanted and needed to keep just went missing, and I thought I was sorting it properly.Just to much of a hurry I suppose.
It's funny a friend I have here was telling me that he knew of a VC-Sports I could have when I got here as he knew of one needing re-homing.I said thanks but I don't need it,boy was I wrong.
[Linked Image]
So I guess that's my sad VC-Sports story.I hope your not tearing up as I am.All sad but true.Oh those VC-Sports. cry tired

What is going on with the green sport with the snorkel coming out over the arch?

What year is this?
Is it a conversion?
What rubber elbow is being used?
Can a conversion be done?

It makes more scenes so that the primer cap can be installed and used easily.

Ok, i get it, 2 types basically, one with primer and snorkel on the RHS and one is primerless/remote primer with snorkel on LHS, oh then of course there's the G3 type.

Interesting.. I've never seen a Victa carby set up like that.. How would you reach the primer?

I see alloy wear like that very rarely.. It's from sand.. People mow on sandy soil and it destroys the bases..

Close bigted but the one coming from the carby side didn't have remote primers. They were a bit like the VC-Mustang Mark II.Which were from the same time period. If you have an engine that was running well you didn't need a primer, you just waited about 10 seconds to allow the fuel to run through. It does work still my VC-Mustang Mark II still starts on the second pull and it has no primer.

The first VC-Sports were released in 1973 to 74 Victacode V137 which had the G3 carbys.Which only came in two colours red & white or purple and blue.OK I hear you saying that their was a green one.Well I guess of sorts there was,but in-fact that was the VC-125 Mark III.It has a sticker on the dress cowl marked as VC-125 Sports, but really wasn't the VC-Sports as it only run the MK III 125cc 2 stroke, not the 160cc,and fitted into the VC-125 family.
Their was a 2nd release of the VC-Sports but I'm not entirely sure whether that was from 1974 or 1976.I think (Now I'm only guessing,so don't get up me if I'm wrong) it was from 1976 to 1978,and run along side the VC-Mustang which did out sell the sports.Even though in this run they again had two different colours. This time it was red and white & green and white. Can't find the victacode for these ones and they run the G4 carby. In which the variation in the carby direction as was with the Mustang.
So I hope this answers some questions.
Also if anybody has any of these sports (Including bigted)if they could post up their numbers as I'm doing some research to verify my information.
As once again there really isn't a lot of information out there in regards to this model.
Thanks.

2-stroke mower addict!
I have just acquired a VC-SPORT series 70 mark 4. Just looking for any information! It has been converted to have a G4 LM carby that has a grey toggle to adjust fuel/air ratio and a primer bulb facing inward towards the right, if you're facing/holding the handle. Serial number 1076013877

Hi Seanos,
Welcome here where we try to help.
First question is what do you plan to do with it, use it for mowing or restore it as a project?
