I have called this mower a VINCO as that is the engine name and I have nothing else to go by
I have had this mower a few years now and never been able to put a name to it
The engine is a 'Vinco' made in Sydney, the tyres made by 'Walter Barr Pty. Ltd Enfield NSW'.
Look on the front of the mower a coat of arms? A map of Australia with two Kangaroos on either side of the letter 'A' and underneath that is says Manufactured by and I have used the biggest magnifying glass you can find and can't reed it

The base is very heave gauge steel and the same as a Qualcast base, there is nowhere on the mower as to where the fuel tank would on gone so I would say fitted to the handle bars
Where does this mower fit in going by the style 1950s

Awesome looking mower you have there IanOZ. I have seen one of them before but can't remember for the life of me what it is or how old it is. I'll see if I saved anything on my computer about it,but I have seen one in fact the one I can remember had been restored. I'll let you know if I can find it.

Here for a good time, not a long time.

Hi IanOZ and ODK members,

That's a sensational machine! I think you might have an important find here Ian.

So what is it?
My guess is the "A" stands for . . . ATCO!
[Linked Image]

I speculate this is an early machine, maybe 1956? The ad. above dates from 1957.
The locally manufactured wheels are an important clue to me in that it all but confirms
that Atco rotaries were NOT imported.

Second, the Sydney engine and the Sydney wheels suggest that Atco Australia
was situated somewhere in Sydney (no surprises there). Damn that incomplete decal/transfer mad
The colour does look like faded Atco green too.

NOTE: This case is not settled though. I have evidence that Vinco did make a mower.
I also know that Vinco is known more for its marine engines. My main evidence is the "A" and the
clear similarity to the known Atco rotaries presented in advertising.

All very interesting.
