I have an Atco Reel mower, No. 1248 Z, with a foot peddle start and a 12"
blade. The compression, piston and carbie are in fine order, but I need a
new spark plug and lead (which is severed)and the wires between the coil and points have had it.

Do you know anywhere in Sydney, NSW that could service/repair this mower?

Are there any service maunuals available from ATCO in the UK for something this old?

I'm also interested in any ATCO or villiers parts as I have a ATCO 1454/5. Does anyone know the specific spec for setting the points. I have set mine to 12' and appears to work ok. I'm also using a champion plug. I have 2. D16 & D21. Are these plugs to hot? Also mixture for the carbie. I have set the screw 3 compelete turns from the bottom. I was told to adjust while runing to max rpm then richen 1/2 turn however seems inpossible as slide turns at the same time.
Any info greatly appreiated

I'm guessing but I gather that your machine is similar to mine.(Villiiers engine) If so the ignition lead which screws into the flywheel backing plate has a brass button(which contacts against the coil) and a spring. If you remove the button, look up the centre of the spring and you will see a small screw. Use a car ignition cable (cut one end off )with the mowers original attachments. Added bonus is you dont have to unscrew the top of the plug for replacement.
As far as the plugs concerns use a Champion D16. Get them from most auto shops like Repco. Mower shops usually shake theirs heads and start taking about sleaves. This is what happens with antiques. Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.
