Hi, I found this at the tip for $5 . I nearly look past this little gem but the old honda lid on the ground took my eye, it was next to the base. When I had a good look at it it didn't seem that bad as it was only missing a few bolts,a governor linkage and governor spring, and choke linkage. Compression was excellent ,the oil was like new even the air filter was like new. The mower looked as though it had been sitting out in the weather for a long period of time. I used a chonda doner for the linkages and spring ,put a spare new carby on it ,a blade carrier and a set if wheels from an old mower as I couldn't find the matching steel rimmed wheel at the tip. Is it possible to still get the hru194 stickers as my local said he dosent think so. Are the valve gap settings the same as t?he hond
gxv160? The engine number for the gxv120-2096765 ?after a bit of paint and a good scrub this is a fine running honda.

Hi roebuck, and well done on that pickup. Those wheels it had on it are not Honda ones, you did well to ditch them. The ones on it now look about right in the picture.
The mower is an HRU194, which uses a GXV120 engine. Tappet clearances are inlet 0.004" plus or minus 0.001", exhaust 0.006" plus or minus 0.001".
If that genuine Honda base is not cracked or dented, the front axle has not eaten its way into it in a forward direction, and the grass door is good, the base alone might sell for close to $100 now that you've spiffed it up.
GXV120 engines are not uncommon, and you've got a few non-genuine bits on it now, so it may not be very valuable on its own. However depending on how long you spent on it, it sounds like you should do very well out of that purchase. Was the HRU blade plate mounting hub already on it? And you've fitted a genuine Honda blade plate?
Hi and thanks Grumpy, yes it did have a blde plate mounting on it and I did put a genuine blade carrier as well as genuine blade bolt and washer(thick washer) which cost $35 in total plus coat of paint and I put the original carby back on after I serviced , washed and clean it, second hand wheels with good bearings ie no play. Another honda to my collection and I will be starting on another two hondas in a week or so. nice set of mag wheels too. Thankyou
