Well guys as hard as I was trying to stay away from the reel mowers, I just couldent leave this one, I have tried to start it but there is a bit of a problem with the dog being a bit worn and also the spring loaded pin that it engages with, I have not looked at the carby or much else yet and seems to have little compression, from what I have been able to find out the parts for these are hard to come by is this correct? The operating manual/parts list is in very very good condition, well I'll put up some pics for you to have a look at and you could give me some advise on it as I know nothing about these (yet)
maybe know a little i have a few of them here . good old machines but not really popular , carbs are good but they like to warm up 1st and enjoy clean fuel ! they do a nice cut too when sharp reliable as and seem a strong engine . purr like a kitten , only problem is , your right parts are harder to find i think most need to come from U.K gasets and thing can be made though i found . even made the carb bowl gasket and still working well . a couple of mine sorry , one of them was an atco ! any help or pic's let me know and i'll try
Thanks vccomm, I have decided to leave it for now as I really whant to get into my Auto's, but when I get motivated back on this one I will be sure to give you a call.
Put it this way, I picked one up free in late 2017, seemed good, then severely sliced open my finger when it kicked back, then I left it for a while. Cleaned the carby and set points and ran ok, but clearly a slightly blown head gasket.
The engine is a suffock punch with updraft Zenith carby - and a sardine can shaped muffler. I looked, and the gasket needs to come from UK costs about $45 incl shipping
