Apologies if the idea of chrome paint makes the more fastidious retorers out here gasp in horror but has anyone used any particular brand of Chrome paint with a degree of success? I tried some White Night Super Chrome and was quite happy with the finish for my projects but the lustre seems to just wipe off on your hands,even after a few weeks drying. All directions on the can were followed. Also tried a clear coat but that turned it a silvery grey colour.
Hi toot, I like use a industrial etch primer first and before it drys hit it with the chrome paint and put it out in the sun to harden but it's not so good on mufflers ,looks good but flakes of after a bit. You can use an industrial etch primer and a good heatproof silver which gives a pretty good look aswell.close your eyes fastidious restorers , this is just to pretty up a little.
Well guys I have done a fair bit of research on the chrome paint and there really is only one way to do it. It's a two part process but unfortunately for me the price of the products is way up there. Over $5000 just to get the products needed. I just don't have that kind off money to put down on that. So I guess it just easier and cheaper the old way with chrome dipping. Apperantly they have come up with the aresole cans in the two parts but I can't find any supplier here in Australia.
$5000.00 just for products hey? The boss gave me daggers when i bought the $20.00 spray can! I'll have to sneek another brand home and give it another go. That is an interesting vid and an impressive finish though. Good toy to play around with.. Blumbly, might as well ask while i'm here, have you got a recommendation for chrome plating in the Brissy area? Not sure how i could explain a couple of nice shiny handles magically appearing on the mowers. Thanks for your replies guys,
