I got around to posting the video about the muffler installation. Sorry it took so long. Also I apologise for the very poor quality of the video, unfortunately it's all I have at the moment. I hope this makes things easier and clearer. I had to make a new account to upload it: Youtube Video

Update: I am sorry about the video being so small. I was in a bit of a rush. I may redo it properly. But I hope this is a good enough size so everyone can see.

Hi James P, it may be short but straight to the point and is great for learners like me , these vids are good because sometimes you can show much easier way of doing something rather then trying to put into words ,which is a little difficult for me at times. Good luck to you.

I was more worried about the video picture being so small. I hope you could see what I was doing. Just a note, this is the engine that will be going on my Restored VC mustang.

I just tried your concept for myself and it's about 10 times easier than the method I used to follow.
I like the rest of the guys appreciate you sharing.

Yes it did explain it very easy. However I've always found it easier to put mufflers on easier off the base than, off the base I don't use tools just my hands ( I won't go into that,Just use James's way).I just worked out another easy way on the weekend.I put the bottom clip on then put the bolt on for the bracket (not tight)just to hole it sort of in the right place. Then got a screw driver and pushed the muffler from the bottom up and then just clicked the top clip on.I stood back and thought wow that was a little to easy.So I guess that's the way I'll be doing it from now,but your way works as well.
Here for a good time, not a long time.

Blumbly do you mean "on the base, then off the base"? The reason I did it off the base is because my VC mustang base is getting welded up. The engine is almost done. Just waiting for a sunny day to finish clearing the engine cowl. Thanks for all the positive comments guys.

Sorry James I was talking about on the base. As I have done it the way you showed in the video, but me being me wondered if there was another way and yep there was. Off the base I just push the muffler down into place and some how it works. Keep us updated how the restore goes.

Well just a bit of an update. I found a little easier way using my method and a bit of Blumblys method combined.
If you find it difficult to get the top clip on with the long nose pliers and screwdriver, then
1/ Install muffler with bottom clip on. 2/ Line up the bolt for the bracket and tighten it up all the way. This will hold the muffler in place and bottom clip shouldn't fall out. 3/ Now use flat blade screwdriver and long nose pliers method for the top clip, this will be almost no effort to lever the top clip on. 4/ Take out the bolt and your done.
I found that this way there is a lot less force required to install top clip.
