HELLO PAUL
would you agree with me that most mcculloch trimmers are a pain in the arse to keep the carb set right on
i have found the only way to richen the high needle till it
starts to splutter then back off 1/4 off a turn it will screm at that, i am always reading that you need to have a flutter you say lean them to where they scream do i must say that chain saws do need to flutter a bit as the reden if thy are screaming?
cheers paul, and thanks for the replys
JB.

JB,

Just a couple of quick questions.

1. Have you replaced the diaphragms?

2. Did you replace the fuel filter in the tank?

3. Did you replace the screen in the carby?

4. Did you decoke the muffler & exhaust port?

If you haven't done these things then you will be playing around all day and get no where.

Regards,
Bruce

I'll add one more item to Bruce's list

Have you changed the fuel line from the tank to carb?
The fuel lines sit soaked in gas and tend to get soft and spongy, often allowing the line to start to collapse with the vacuum pulled by the carb pump. This is first noticed when the machine will run great for a few minutes then die, and will start back up with the same scenario.

Not sure where you are located, but there are complete aftermarket carb kits available that are not very expensive.
