HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !!!!!Finished this on weekend , could anyone ID it for me please ,year and model name ?, has Kirby Tecumseh engine .
Engine should be painted white , but I personally cannot bring myself to painting any machinery white , I even had to toss a coin about the cowl/fueltank colour and I lost the toss .
Hope you like it as I am happy with it , have not found a starter for it yet but to me it looks OK with a pulley. Al[Linked Image]

Interesting - and good-looking - machine, especially for a Rover. Seems as if it would have had an impulse starter - in my opinion the pulley looks horrible. Engine seems completely unfamiliar - is that a 2 stroke Tecumseh?

Hi Al, It is an unusual machine....I have never seen one like it....I have to agree with grumpy...I am not too fond of the pulley either...but, until we can identify the model and what starter it had originally, the pulley will have to suffice...
congrats on another nice resto, mate! grin

That looks awesome. I had the exact same mower here a while back, but unfortunately I didn't keep any info from it. I reco'd it and fitted a B&S 3.5 to it. The original engine is still here, but it's in Ty's name.

I have done a bit of digging for you, I can't find much on the mower itself, though I have some information on your engine.

Size: 122cc
Power: 3.3hp (@3200rpm)
Bore: 2.3125in (0.005in Wear Limit)
Stroke: 1.769in
Main Bearings: Ball Race
Big end Bearing: Needle
Small End Bearing: Caged Needle
Intake: Port Controlled
Carburettor: Flywheel Airflow Governed
Spark Plug: Champion J18Y or equivalent
Timing: 0.080in btdc
Spark lug Gap: 0.030in
Points Gap: 0.020in

All I can find so far about the mower leads me to think you have an early Rover Super 2, possibly 67-69, hopefully more will come up.

Cheers
Ty

Looks the goods.

I have one here the same base, but with a Briggs on it.
I also found a catcher that someone knocked up for it. I will grab some pics of the catcher, been meaning too for a while.

I think Ty has the big brother to this one.

I completely forgot about that, Thanks Bob.

Yes, I do have a big brother version of this (Assuming I am correct that this is a Super 2) I have the Super 4 21"SP, A Massive self Propelled machine with a Big Briggs engine.

The chassis is similar, but larger, and with the addition of a swing frame drive system, It uses a side catcher, which I have, but it does not currently run.

Here it is:

And here is the old rover I have with the Villiers engine on it:

Thats a bit slack Ty. I reckon a good solid hours work would have that super 4 up and running.

Hi Gizmo, and thanks for posting your pics. I particularly like the last pic....Wow! look at the size of that engine! shocked

To help you navigate around the site...here is a tip; when you view the first page in a forum....showing all the forum topics, click on the topic you wish to view, in this case: Collectors Corner > Rotary ....then scroll right to the bottom of the page and look for "Display Options"....click the blue button at the end of the box "Show Topics" and select from the drop down list : "from all dates".
Like this: [Linked Image] and then click "Change"
You will the have access to all the posts in "Collectors Corner" You can do this in all forums. wink You will find some very interesting posts in the archives. wink
Hoping this helps...

Hello toot,
Restored handle by rubbing right back to the metal, priming surface with a grey primer and finishing with Auto One brand (the car accessory place) Wheel Silver, it gives a good finish and does not need a clear coat although you could use a clear coat if you wanted to.
Cheers
