The plastic fuel tank on this unit looks like it's got a small crack and someone has tried unsuccessfully to patch it up. Can they be patched up, if not, anyone know what a new one would cost?

G'day I have used a electric soldering iron not a gas one dont want to start a fire! to fix small cracks in fuel tanks before, you can use an old tank of the same plastic cut into small bits as fill also if needed..its worked good the few time Ive had to do this with no leaks when you get the hang of it its easy to do..Cheers

Thanks Chris, good idea! I assume you don't let the iron get too hot, I'll give it a try.

I have a method that Works Without a flaw.

Drain the tank completely, Then let it sit with the cap off for maybe 3 hours to a day, then using a heat gun, Carefully begin heating the area in a 1" circle around the crack.. Let the tank get soft enough to Just melt but not get drippy, Then Remove all heat and Let the tank cool overnight.

And Voila! Perfectly good!

The Science behind this is the Plastic melts and then fuses back together again, As if you re-molded the tank... This Will never come apart again.
