I bought a "running chainsaw from e bay a few weeks ago and sure enough it runs OK. However the chainbrake does not stay off once you try and latch it back. close inspection of the latch shows there may be a part missing but I cannot find a workshop manual anywhere No labels or markings on the machine but i reckon it is at least 7 years old. it s a two stroke manual choke and a toggle on/off swith there is also a fuel pump square button on the front. A foot plate under the handle for starting purposes . It is painted yellow and the chain bar is about 14 inches......If there was a site with pitures I am sure I could identify the blighter. Can anyone help by narrowing the field down or pointing me at some web pics? I would be most appreciative.

I was telling my husband about your plight and he is in to chainsaws and he said to tell you to just take the brake off of it. He said that is what he would do. Dont need it anyway. I just thought I would pass that on. Probably not what you would want to do though. Barb

Thanks for your help Guys, I looked for the sticker bruce but to no avail. There was some numbers on the bar but I reckon that was just the serial for the bar itself. Good news though I managed to fix the problem in the end Using a different sequence of assembly and it all works just fine now! Having had a look around this forum I now realise I need to sharpen the chain and fit a new Bar. Any ideas on correct chain tension?

Mark,
When you have tensioned the chain you should be able to see half the drive tooth and be able to pull the chain around the bar without to much effort.
