Hang it in the Corner? I believe the correct phrase is...."I have to finish my shed so I can fill it with more Vintage mowers....:) What? thats what I did...The Victa Gods Spoke to me one night...Thou shall buy lots and lots of Victas and house them in a HUUUGE shed. And thou shall worship them daily and twice on sundays,And thou shall bring them out when thy mates come over for a BBQ...And they will all gather around with mouths agape and go OOOOH AHHHHHHH...Thats what they said..HONESSSSTTTTTTTTT.....:)

Good work man, sorry to see the wife isn't happy though. I must be lucky as my wife just shakes her head and says if that makes you happy. Just as long as I don't make a mess inside the house. I'm happy with that.

Here for a good time, not a long time.

Yes Pics would be nice love to see your toys. And Yes the work to smooth out would have been fun NOT!.The cast alloy in all the earlier victa parts is very poor, and only runs about an 8% silicone content so to weld is actually quite hard as there are so many impurities in this metal, even cast iron,Its not far off Die Cast/White Metal which cannnot be welded....ok ok Im sure someone can but its near impossible. All the crap comes to the surface and the alloy does not run well due to the low silicone content,so sometimes its a case of weld, grind weld grind until you get the desired run and it often makes a higher build, hence the laboured smoothing out process. And a shame neither of you are in Sydney as I Alloy weld Also and Alloy Braze to..YES braze,And oxy and stick and mig and brazing, soldering and fabrication and lead lining and cast iron and erm thats about it lmao. Just curious VC why did you get a model 5 base welded? This all you had? A shame since ive thrown so many out,Not good enough to sell, not worth the space to keep...

I have only had 2 bases welded only due to being harder to find. One was a 500 twin 1st version only needed a patch put in as some fool cut a square piece out, and the other was a department store model 5 had more cracks than a mans club (you know with the red light). It was bad. Cost $100 for the 2 of them.

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for posting the pic of the Model 4 Auto, you are a legend! You have given me a great idea for my Victa 18 coffee table.
As you know I have been racking my brains to come up with a solution to the handle bar supports that will not detract to much from the machine itself. After viewing this particular pic, I spied the redundant bar for your front flap and then realised that my machine is the first Model 5, with the Predicta extensions still fitted. These I can utilise to fabricate the handle bar support. I will fit a bar in place, and from the centre of this, I will weld a 'V' profile of the same diameter rod that will reach both handles and weld 2 'U' shaped pieces to the ends (lined with felt) to support it.
If you could please tell me the diameter of your rod, I will then measure and fabricate it (preferably in stainless) and then install. A big 'V' for Victa! Here's your pic re-posted.....

And here's my machine....

I think this will do the job and look great. grin
cheers2

Ok I can do that, but I hope your not in a hurry as 98% of my mowers are still in storage in Canberra. Currently there are plans being made to them but no date yet. My automatic is one of that 98%. I do think you plan will work though. I am hoping it will be 2 to 3 weeks away. Then I will be like a kid in a candy store.
