Welcome, and as a forum and all the people in it, we love this stuff.
Just a general forum tip.

Pictures tell a million words.

One could only guess at what the model is. A blue Rancher 2 perhaps.

I am not sure where you will find him a $150+ gearbox for free.

Rancher as in the same as the one above. They were 3 speed I thought
Or the later Rancher with the 5 speed transaxle.

Thats fair enough.Probably better if you start your own thread and put in all the info about the machine you need it for and put up pics of it as well. A model blah blah means not much to some, but a pic tells a thousand words.

Howdy, I believe thats a 11040 model. 8hp, 3 plus reverse gearbox. I've got the remains of one of those here. 4.00 x 8 rear tyres.
The 11046 model was almost identical but fitted with 6.50 x 8 rear tyres and slightly wider rear guards.

The 11050 model had the 5 plus reverse gearbox in the same layout. This model also had wider front tyres. The rear guards were also of a different design.

Cheers

Cable? What I have here are steel rod actuated. I can't say I've ever seen one with a cable, that's not to say it's not original though. Can you put up some more pics that show it better?
PM me with a list of the parts you need, I might be able to help.

Thanks.

Sorry I do mean the steel rod that goes from the break pedal to the disc. If you have one ill be over the moon to buy it off you, otherwise I was going to just make one up. Other parts umm yea not 100% but I will get back to you on that, not alot I need as this mower is pretty well complete, but I will let you know this week. Thanks again

The later ones have the 5 speed 1 reverse, mine is an early model with only 3 forward and reverse.
Awesome, i just got my GV400 up and running yesterday for the first time, so happy it runs now and it runs great to (was a gamble if it would work at all) Ill go check out ebay now, but i think i might of missed it [Censored]!! been awhile since i was on here last.

Hi - Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong spot. I just got an 8hp Rancher 2. Runs fine but 3speed gearbox wont engage any gear. Opened it up and ther's too much play in one of the horizontal shafts. The helical gear won't engage firmly with the final gear that drives the pulley. Does that make any sense? Am I better off trying to fix this - or should I look for a second hand 3 or 5 speed? (And if so - does anyone have one they might sell?) Sincerelt, Rich
